Right at the heart of Manhattan is Midtown. North of the Garment District and just south of Central Park, it extends roughly from 8th to 5th Avenue and 42nd to 59th Street. Midtown contains a vast majority of the most famous and popular NYC landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Carnegie Hall, and Times Square.
The several famous and memorable locations in the area aren’t the only reasons Midtown is the hub of Manhattan activity. Numerous corporate giants have their headquarters in this district, including The New York Times Company, NBC Universal, Barnes & Noble, Time Warner, and Viacom, all in the largest and most modern skyscrapers in NYC.
With attractions for visitors and tourists as well as a high concentration of large firms and businesses, there are many reasons to travel to and from Midtown and the subway is readily available with stations on virtually every corner. At 59th Street around Columbus Circle, the A, C, B, and D routes can be found. The N and R are at 57th and 7th, 49th, and 42nd Street. B, D, and E are at 53rd Street and B and V are found at the corner of 57th Street and 6th Avenue. At the eastern side, there are E and F lines on 5th Avenue. A, C, and E as well as the 1, 2, 3, and 9 all are located along 50th Street and the B, D, F, and V can take you right to 42nd Street or Rockefeller Center.
Midtown has the highest concentration of offices in Manhattan, which are almost all Class A buildings. In addition to housing the highest concentration of office space in the largest buildings in Manhattan, Midtown also has the most prestigious and, consequently, the priciest to lease. The high concentration of offices in the district however also means that there are consistently commercial real estate opportunities in the area.
